About the community group/organisation/individual
New River Primary School is a decile one primary school in South Invercargill. At present, it has a roll of about 200 children in classes from new entrants to Year 6.
The school was established in 2005 when Kew, Clarendon, Clifton and South Schools closed and merged to become New River Primary.
What the grant went towards
New River Primary School received a grant of $2500 from the ILT Foundation towards sports bibs, sports tops, climbing handles for a climbing wall and gazebos to be used for shelter on sports days.
What the grant means to the community group/organisation
“Our kids don’t have a lot, so whatever we can give them to succeed and be proud of our school is gratefully received,” New River Primary School teacher Rebecca Jordan said.
“We can’t do that without [support from community funders].”
